Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 6, 2009 Bottle shared thanks to Willblake I think. Pours a Deep dark brown wiht a thinning head. Aroma of chocolate malt, light licorice, anise, earth toast and hints of coffee. More chocolate malt, with a charred acrid balck malt bitterness, herbal and earthy like hops and more anise in the end. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Feb 5, 2009 Courtesy of THE tpd975. Pours deep brown with amber edges and almost no head. The aroma is roasty malts, mild wood and smoke to go along with a pulse of vanilla. The taste is roasty moving toward burnt malts and then into wood and mild smoky peatiness. Pretty nice stuff. It thins out into the finish. Starts bold and then finishes with smooth and light lingering notes of wood, peat, smoke and molasses. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Feb 5, 2009 Thanks tpd975 for the share. Pours dark brown with a slight off-white head. Nose is roasted malt, some smoke, and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt with bitter hops, some smoke, and some chalkiness. Flavor is lingering dry. It is ok. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Feb 1, 2009 It didn’t pick up on the imperial aspect of this stout. It reminded me of a mild with the smooh malt body. In the English style, with low carbonation and a fairly thick palate. Chocolate, and some earth. Only a hint of smoke. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jan 31, 2009 Dark brown with ruby edges. Frothy, bubbly head of light tan cream. Malt accented nose lacks depth and describable character, with some medicinal character and some dark malt (cocoa and smoke.) Flavor is very stale and dull. Very poor balance, oxidized and tough to drink. I really wish Brewdog would consider a much beefier beer for their Paradox.
charlotte (1997), Vanløse, Denmark Jan 22, 2009 Black colour with almost no head.Aroma of rosted malt, caramel and dark chocolate.Flavor has a smooth note of dark berries, feels a bit oily with short finish. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Jan 21, 2009 Bottle, can’t remember from where. I do like Brewdogs beers a lot and this is no exception. Pretty much black in colour with a light creamy brown head. Like Wes Brown. Smells sweet but not too much, dark chocolate and rich fruit cake. Hardly any bitterness in the taste which certainly puts lead in my pencil. Smooth and nice with the alcohol in there but perfectly adding to everything. Very nice thank you very much. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 16, 2009 Bottle. Low but lasting creamy light brown head. Clear dark ruby body. Coffee choccolate aroma with a bit of hops bitterness in the background. Sttrong and lovely coffee flavor with choccolate. Very nice palate. Can almost feel the coffee beans. Strong but still smooth and nice without alcohol taste. Low carbonation and a very long aftertaste.
