SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 21, 2008 Dark chocolate brown color pour with a small, but lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is chocolate and coffee as well, with some roasted sweet malt and dark fruit. Smooth on the palate, but a bit thin. A touch of hops on the finish. Highly drinkable. A pretty good brew. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Oct 15, 2008 The base for all of the barrel aged imperial stouts. Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a smooth tan head. Big dark chocolate character, very smooth palate, dry finish. Overall a really nice imperial stout and the perfect base for their barrel experiments. This is one of the few non-barrel beers I thought were worth their price, very well built and solid imperial stout. Ljunkan (379), Karlstad, Sweden Oct 15, 2008 Updated: Nov 27, 2008Bottle @ Bishops Arms, Karlstad. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate. Flavour is of chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malt, slightly hoppy. Palate is surprisingly thin and a bit dissapointing. Easy drinkable and a very balanced beer, but not something overwhelming. I was surprised to find this one in Karlstad though! bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 14, 2008 (Bottle, Batch 002) Pours a dark reddish brown body with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, light chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Flavor of roasted malt, hops (citrus), chocolate, and coffee with a bitter finish. Todeon (314), Sweden Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. Roasted and coffee dominated aroma with a bit of vanilla in there to. Mouthfeel is a bit creamy but still thin. Taste is coffee and dark chocolat with a bitter finish. Dedoulequeen07 (136), london, Greater London, England Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Rich in columbian coffee and chocolate, roasted malts, and toffee. Good smoke roast and caramel character with a balanced hoppy finish. My boys sure know how to make a fine impy stout. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a dark brown with small tan head. Flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, smoked bacon, coffee, small notes of dark fruit, and a bitter hoppy finish. Pretty decent, and slightly different imp stout. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours dark brown, with a tan ring of bubbles for a head. Rich coffee and chocolate, roasted oats, and toffee. More sweet than bitter in the taste. Chocolate and coffe a prevalent, as is the roasty grain and malt, some smoke, caramel, and dark fruit. I liked how the beer avoided the soy sauce taste that can pop up with other Imperials. Excellent.
