Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Dark brown with a nice tan lacing head. Chocolate, caramel, little coffee. Very rounded and smooth. Flavour is of bitter cocoa, malty with a dry end. A long aftertaste.

33oml bottle exp 22/11/08. Looked good when poured with a decent head. It didn’t t last. Plenty of flavour but a bit sour and astringent. Burnt. clean finish though. I could taste the alcohol too. Too thin for a stout. Not bad but not up to my expectations of this style.

650 ml, batch 004, bb 9-9-09. Nearly opaque with a two-finger head that settles to an enduring quarter-inch and leaves a frosty-soapy lacing behind. Earthy aromas of cocoa, coffee and peat with hints of caramel and marshmallow. Tastes of coffee, chicory, dark chocolate, smoked peat and oak with just enough vanilla-caramel and a hint of apple to balance all the bitter roast flavors. Medium-heavy body is neither too watery nor too syrupy. Creamy smooth with light carbonation and slightly dry.

Batch 004 Best Before 09/09/09 Pitch black pour with a very thin light tan head that rims the glass but otherwise disappears. Potent roasty character with slight hoppiness and some bitter chocolate. Nice roasted malts in the taste and a nice but not overly bitter hop finish. A little one-dimensional even for a fairly classically styled RIS. Nice burnt smoke aftertaste lingers.

bottle - mild aroma, slight notes of smokiness. medium to light body for a stout, let alone an imperial stout. medium roastiness with some smoke. Tastes like you’d think a rubber tire might taste. Finishes sweet like lactose and then with a sour aftertaste.
