Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle from ’Beersofeurope.co.uk’: Very dark sout with very little head. Aroma of roadted malt and chocolate. Flavour is lots of roasted malt with a little burntness, nice caramel notes. Nice and thick as I like in an imperial stout. Reaaly good one.

Pours with almost no head and has bubbles within that bubble up to the top one-by-one. After pouring, it almost looks like Coca-Cola in the glass. Nose is pretty generic of roasted malts. Taste is more complex than the nose would suggest. Predominant taste is coffee, with notes of caramel, dark chocolate, molasses, and an earthiness. Finish is pleasantly bitter of coffee and hops and is quite long lasting. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Jeez! These beers gets no appearance points. They always pour with absolutely no head. Overly roasted chocolate nose, some burnt caramel and the lightest wisp of acrid coffee. A light hint of smoke and vinous fruit leads into some licorice and molasses. Bittersweet roastiness, and I am not saying this is undrinkable, because its not, but it has the undersirable qualities that I do not like in a stout, licorice, soy and salt, and its overly roasted. Flaky.

Bottle while in San Diego on 08/01/2008 for the RBSG Friday Pub Crawl. Dark brown body with a small off-white head. Chocolate and roast aroma. Roast malt and caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Presents jet black with a substantial beige coloured head. Aromas are a little reserved, dark chocolate roasted coffee beans a hint of honeycombe and slightly metalic. (almost like a lead pencil) Palate is rather full, choc-hazelnut dominates with bittersweet coffee roast rounding out the mid palate. Metallic character comes up again (its a tad undesirable, but not too bad) more bittersweet roast with a malty, rather viscous finish. Alcohol is hidden oh so well!!

Thanks to a rep for leaving our store a sample. Black color with a thin head. It was immediately obvious this was the base beer for the previous one (Paradox). Roasty malt aroma, light oak and a bit of salt. Strong, grainy taste. Lots of roast and bitter chocolate. Earthy and chalky.

A porter right up my alley: sweet and roasty aroma and a flavor to match. I like the hops in this one too, nicely grapefruity. The liquorice is also very prominent in both the aroma and the flavor, the chocolate and coffee being more dominant in the taste than in the aroma. Need to try more brewdog beers...

Poured by Dr.Bill on the RBSG ’08 bus. Dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma of rich mocha, caramel, some smoke/roast and a tinge of alcohol. Surprisingly very bitter with a ton of resinous, earthy hop character then wood, light chocolate and a bit of charcoal - overall a bit harsh. Medium bodied beer with soft carbonation. Thanks for sharing, SD folks!
