| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Poured from a bomber (Batch 001) and served in a snifter. This stout poured a dark brown hue with just a bit of light showing through the edges of the glass. A head of bubbly tan foam displayed some fair retention, leaving behind some decent lace. The aroma of the beer was made up of malted chocolate, molasses, along with a hint of smokey/burnt wood. The flavor consisted of chocolate, heavily roasted malt, dusty yeast, and a peppery hop bite. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with smooth, moderate carbonation. Simple, but decent. Cornfield (4926), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Pours nearly black with mahogany edges and a moderate tan head. The aroma has a bunch of dark bittersweet chocolate in it complemented by roasted barley, anise, and molasses. There’s a fair amount of alcohol in the flavor, surprizing for a "modest" 8% ABV. The rest of the nose is in the flavor, too (That doesn’t sound right!), along with some coffee grounds. It has a sweet-yet-dry finish with a slight alcohol burn. Pretty decent brew.

Clearly they have the american market at least somewhat in mind if they’re filling true 12-oz blanks rather than 330s...or maybe I just like to read into things. :-) Black. Thin off-white foamy head. Sugary, rather molassesy nose. Nice creamy body on the high side of medium. Rich roasty sweet mid-palate. Big charcoal near the finish. JCB (1747), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2008 Bottle from Warehouse Beverage, Cleveland Heights. A relatively powerful hit on the wallet, but hey it had a good ways to travel. The pour isn’t as thick as one might expect but it’s oily black with some decent carbonation in there (appropriate given the style I’d say) and a substantial dusky head. Lots of chocolate in the aroma, just a bit more roasts in the flavor (and a surprising amount of booziness given that it’s a relatively modest 8% abv - modest for the style at least). Definitely an interesting variation - could we call this an imperial dry stout? Nice beer. WeeHeavySD (2962), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2008 Bottle bought today at Nikki’s Liquors in Providence RI, a little pricey at $12 but its the first time I’ve seen any brew dog in the US for sale. Poured into a port glass. Pours dark brown/black with a big nice 2 finger tanish head. Nose is sweet and dry and much like a dry stout not so much the nose of any imperial stout I recognize. Taste is certainly bigger, really a big big big malty coffee burnt taste. Its rather good, but certainly different and somewhat funky fresh. I like it, I’m wondering how the IPAs are. Good beer.
