Lots of roasted malts, chocolate & coffee. Only lightly smoked, which for me is quite pleasant. Dark fruits - plums & raisin. Quite dusty & warm. Quite good product! Theis (3698), Denmark

The body is dark as pitch with only a few bubbles on the surface. Rather zestful and smoky aroma. In-depth flavour of dark chocolate and liquorice blended by dark fruits. Progressive bitterness with alcohol shining through. Dusty mouthfeel (sampled with Finn, 02.05.2008). yalnikim (779), Wellington, New Zealand
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 Tasted 05/05/2008. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s. Inky black, as you’d expect, with a tight tan head that fades to virtually nothing. Very good but lacking a depth of character in the mouth. Fruity espresso on the nose - hints of berry couli, dark chocolate, caramel, burnt toast and alcohol. Subdued esters, American yeast? Roasty, toasty notes dominate the mouth front front to back, with a nice underlying caramel note and a very light lick of diacetyl. Medium weight, medium-low carbonation. Lingering astringency. A very nice beer but it lacks the finesse to incite poetic ravings... mjs (1463), Helsinki, Finland

Smoke and roasted malts in nose. Very full bodied. Perhaps even too heavy for my taste. Still, a good imperial stout. IrishBoy (2706), Bakersfield, California, USA
