| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Pours a very dark ruby with a tan fluffy head. Aroma features confected malt character with hints of green banana, astringent grain and chocolate. On the palate there is a creamy mouth feel, chunky chocolate and toffee a resiny hop note and a long balancing roasty finish. Great strong stout but not an Imperial in my opinion. kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2008 Fruity blackcurrant chocolate malt on the nose with a touch of peat, looks great in the glass. Has a very pleasing smokey chocolate dark fruit flavour with a dryish hop finish which leaves you looking forward to another sip....an immensely well conceived beer that is a pleasure to drink. pintbypint (1004), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Bottled, bbe 01/2009. Dark brown to black, lacing tanned head. Nose is burned, slightly syrupy and woody, piney hops. A bit like Koff porter with more hops. Full and intensive flavor, strong liquorice, burned malt and piney hops. Sweetish, but finishes drier with grapefruity bitterness. Medium to full bodied, oily palate. Intensive and well hopped, but that liquorice gets maybe a bit too overpowering sometimes.
