Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival. The body is dark as pitch with only a few bubbles on the surface. Rather zestful and smoky aroma. In-depth flavour of dark chocolate and liquorice blended by dark fruits. Progressive bitterness with alcohol shining through. Dusty mouthfeel (sampled with Finn, 02.05.2008).

The base for all of the barrel aged imperial stouts. Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a smooth tan head. Big dark chocolate character, very smooth palate, dry finish. Overall a really nice imperial stout and the perfect base for their barrel experiments. This is one of the few non-barrel beers I thought were worth their price, very well built and solid imperial stout.

Bottle. Deep dark brown, almost black with a small beige head. Vanilla, chocolate and espresso nose. Earthy notes as well. Nice woody chocolate, earthy character, good balance. A great complex brew, for dedicated beer dogs!

"341." Thanks, Thewolf! Clearly they have the american market at least somewhat in mind if they’re filling true 12-oz blanks rather than 330s...or maybe I just like to read into things. :-)
Black. Thin off-white foamy head. Sugary, rather molassesy nose. Nice creamy body on the high side of medium. Rich roasty sweet mid-palate. Big charcoal near the finish.

Pours a clear dark walnut brown, moderate tan coloured head. Very roasty aroma, chocolate, dark caramel. Burnt malt, dark caramel, coffee and chocolate, medium bodied. Very bitter, reedy finish. More like a foreign stout than an impy IMO, but decent nonetheless.

Courtesy of THE tpd975. Pours deep brown with amber edges and almost no head. The aroma is roasty malts, mild wood and smoke to go along with a pulse of vanilla. The taste is roasty moving toward burnt malts and then into wood and mild smoky peatiness. Pretty nice stuff. It thins out into the finish. Starts bold and then finishes with smooth and light lingering notes of wood, peat, smoke and molasses.

Bottled. Pitch pour with ruby edges, and filthy caramel suds receding to a slick. Charred malt aroma wafting with bitter choc, liquorice, smoke and brine. Brackish and yeasty like a Baltic Porter, but the flavour is bittersweet, chunkily smooth, biting with cocoa and lingering smoke, and leaning towards America. Delicious impy.
