Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle.
Pours a rich, void-of-light jet black with a nice cream head. Aroma is marshmallow, chocolate, cocoa, and a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is ta,e sweet peaty chocoloate powder and bitter roasted malt. Nice mouthfeel but it fails to leave a lasting impression. Not shabby, but could use some more assertiveness.

Bottle, thanks rickgordon. Dark opaque brown with a medium beige head. Mildly roasted character with coffee and some notes of green pepper. Medium bodied and creamy smooth. Very well balanced, perhaps a bit to harshly bitter.

A lack-luster brew from the BrewDog. So far not impressed by these overpriced Dawgs! The appearance was on, dark brown black, decent initial head from the bottle. The aroma was chocolate, cocoa, roast. The flavor was lactic, milky, chocolate with some light roast. For an imperial stout, this seemed more astringent than any other I’ve had, odd consdering they tend to be over-sugared. Mouthfeel was on par for the style, not as sticky as it could have been. Long sigh.

Lots of licorice in both the aroma and flavor here but there’s a slight funk in the aroma that I can’t quite place.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a small foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee is pleasant enough. Taste is a mix between some roasted coffee and lightly bitter malt. Body is a bit thin and carbonation is also low but alcohol was not discernable. I would have appreciated this beer even more with some black chocolate notes and some additional complexity.

Black with a fizzy tan head. Mild malty chocolate aroma. Roasty, slight fruit, and watery chocolate taste. Not as robust as I would like for an 8% stout.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with some crimson glowing at the edges. A small, frothy tan head leaves a soapy wash on the glass, scant spots remaining behind in dry form. Aromas include moderately toasted caramel, dark chocolate, sweet dark fruits, and hints of smokiness. Flavors are very similar, mostly caramello showing up front, with notes of figs and other dark fruits lending further sweetness. There is a roasty smokiness that comes through on the back end, lending balance and depth. Thin on body for the style, yet still relatively syrupy, the mouthfeel is lacking. Not bad overall, but this brew was definitely made for the Scotch barrel.
