Nose is cocoa powder, booze, and roasted malt. Taste is like a mouthful of coffee grounds with a bit of chocolate. Very bitter. Decent mouthfeel. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2007 Gravity, Oxford CAMRA beer festival. Deep black, nice persistant tan head. Coffee, rum cow pasture, and ocean aroma. Really funky. Saltwater taffy flavor, smoke, brine, black earth. A huge volume of flavor, but a bit unfocused, and thus somewhat less than the sum of it’s parts. Seems flavors are fighting for attention, rather than part of a whole. Maybe it’s just young?
