Bottle purchased at Palmer’s. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, booze and coffee. Chocolate flavor with a bit of alcohol and semi-bitter coffee on the back end.

An almost black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of burned malts with fruits like dark cherries with some raisins. The taste id dry, there smoked malt, bitter of chocalte with some little sweets of fruits. The aftertaste is dry bitter with smoke and a little spices.

22.4oz bottle. Opaque black with a minimal, patchy head. The aroma is relatively mild, but the taste is full on awesome. Big coffee and cocoa flavors. Mellow carbonation, ultra smooth. Mossy cocoa bitterness. Chocolate aftertaste. One of the best Scottish beers I’ve had in awhile.

possibly the worst poem i have ever read and the only poem i have ever seen on the side of a beer bottle. actually reads more like manowar lyrics or something, but being on a beer bottle i can’t be sure of the irony. brewers are pretty earnest. this beer is an american style imperial only watered down, much like the punk IPA - a more drinkable and approachable version of US microbrew so as not to scare the scots who never knew about hops apparently. grapefruit and chocolate and alcohol, thin finish leaving alcohol and rough high AA hops. a bonsai version of the west coast stouts everyone on ratebeer [except me, silktork and ernest] loves. in fact i just read silktork’s rating and it is hilarious.

Thanks tpd975 for the share. Pours dark brown with a slight, almost nonexistant off-white head. Nose is roasted malt, some smoke, and roasted malt. Flavor is almost no roasted malt some dark fruit and slight coffee and chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a bit more roast, dark fruit, and some slight chocolate. It is ok. Body is REALLY thin for an imp stout. Pretty decent for a BrewDog beer.

Cask @ Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2008. Dark-dark brown. Small beige head. Big chocolate and coffee aroma. Very smooth and silky. The taste is of roasted coffee, then some liqurice. The looong finish is bitter with warming alcohol.

Dark chocolate brown color pour with a small, but lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is chocolate and coffee as well, with some roasted sweet malt and dark fruit. Smooth on the palate, but a bit thin. A touch of hops on the finish. Highly drinkable. A pretty good brew.

Blah blah. Dark pour, small head. Chocolate flavor and maybe a little roast and chalky...is any of this remarkable in any way? No, it isn’t. Not bad, not great.
