Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

pours a jet black with a thin foam on top, very good lacing.
smell is of powered bakers cocoa, vanilla, some malts, a light roastiness.
taste is thick, creamy, milk chocolate, touch of vanilla, touch of caramel, nice mild bitter finish.
overall a really nice taste that goes down wonderfully.

on cask at Rattle&Hum, NYC. body is blackish with mahogany edges. dark tan thin creamy head. coffee and roasted malt aroma, a bit of chocolate and vanilla extract too. body is smooth and glossy. flavor is just a little hoppy bitter at the start, then coffee and roasted malt, licorice/anise, a bit of baking chocolate. bitter/dry aftertaste.

Brewdog Rip Tide 12/12/09 (bomber, says best before 9/9/09. Pours dark brown-purple, with almost no head. Aroma of raisins, peat, dark chocolate and a touch of sweet molasses. Body is medium and mild carbonation, a bit thin for the style. Flavor can be described simply as dark chocolate with an earthy, raisin-infused element. Not much roasts or coffee here. I’m not really impressed by this one. And this is the second Brewdog beer I’ve felt the same about (Punk IPA being the other). Lacks the body, complexity, and, well heck, the alcohol, of my favorite bold Impy Stouts.) 3.6.

Bottle, chris_o shindig. Thick dark brown. Roasted cocoa, malt. Some milk chocolate. Malty mouth, thick, quite roasted burnt malt, coffee in there. Some dark fruit, caramel, roast on the palate. Rather bloody nice.

Courtesy of tpd975. Reddish black pour, licorice color, fluffy wet white head and wet lacing. Nose has tons of oak, some roast and distant coffee. Flavor has a lot of oak, dry peat and smoke, nice roasted finish. Unique, good, harsh dry body, tasty and drinkable despite the harsness.
