Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Pours nearly black with mahogany edges and a moderate tan head. The aroma has a bunch of dark bittersweet chocolate in it complemented by roasted barley, anise, and molasses. There’s a fair amount of alcohol in the flavor, surprizing for a "modest" 8% ABV. The rest of the nose is in the flavor, too (That doesn’t sound right!), along with some coffee grounds. It has a sweet-yet-dry finish with a slight alcohol burn. Pretty decent brew.

Dark brown color with a smaller hot cocoa head. Lightly toasted and roasted malt in the aroma. A touch of salt water toffee. Not a strong scent, but nothing askew. Light sweet licorice in the start. Quite enjoyable for a professed licorice hater. Middle is full of sweetened coffee, Toasted, hearty whole grain bread, blackberries and a hint of pencil eraser (resin?). Very light carbonation. Finish is lightly sweet and linger is of sweet roasted malt and some mild honey roasted nuts. I find no trace of alcohol. A very enjoyable stout.

Bottle from Belmont Party. Poured a clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, dark fruit and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted malty flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Derby BF. A black beer with a slight beige colourede head. The aroma is smoky and roasty with a fishy character. The taste is roasty and malty, but there are good hops too. A big beer with smoky roasty malts. Very tasty.Score 4.1

Bottle. Black with a small beige foam. Aromas are roast coffee with dark chocolate. Slightly smoky with some peat earthiness. Flavours are light coffee initially followed by bitter hops and warming alcohol. Very smooth chocolate next with peppery notes and more alcohol. Hints of dates. Some oiliness on the palate. Simple, heady and good.
