Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle... NFL Day at dchmela’s in O-Town... Pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is a collaboration of chocolate, vanilla and tree nuts. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Chocolaty and a touch boozy. Big, burnt bitterness. Lengthy, chocolaty, bitter finish.

Bottle from Belmont Party. Poured a clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, dark fruit and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted malty flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer.

This opaque nearly black stout poured with a thin layer of beige colored bubbles and a fruity malt aroma. The flavor is chocolate and plum with a treacle chaser and, yes, a little coffee. It’s very tasty. I used half a bottle to make a batch of beef and beer, and it was delicious.

Tasted 05/05/2008. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s. Inky black, as you’d expect, with a tight tan head that fades to virtually nothing. Very good but lacking a depth of character in the mouth. Fruity espresso on the nose - hints of berry couli, dark chocolate, caramel, burnt toast and alcohol. Subdued esters, American yeast? Roasty, toasty notes dominate the mouth front front to back, with a nice underlying caramel note and a very light lick of diacetyl. Medium weight, medium-low carbonation. Lingering astringency. A very nice beer but it lacks the finesse to incite poetic ravings...

Dark brown with a khaki colored head. Kelpie tobacco aroma with dusty black malts. Smooth medium body. Great flavors of dry, roasty malts with kelp, coffee, and cocoa. Starts dry and finishes lightly sweet. Nice stout.

Batch 4. The beer pours to a dark cola colored body with a large soap bubble-like off-tan head. The aroma is very grainy and brownie like. Oatmeal and lots of liquid chocolate. Very distinctly dessert like. The flavor is rich chocolate syrup, oatmeal, rye, and lots of Scotch like things going on. Tastes like an organic beer but its good unlike most organic beers. Very clean flavors. Palate is nicely refreshing and not heavy. Very nicely subtle dry roasty malts and subtle hops.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Opaque black American-like but Scottish stout, intense bitter but got some chocolate sweetness.

Dark brown color with a smaller hot cocoa head. Lightly toasted and roasted malt in the aroma. A touch of salt water toffee. Not a strong scent, but nothing askew. Light sweet licorice in the start. Quite enjoyable for a professed licorice hater. Middle is full of sweetened coffee, Toasted, hearty whole grain bread, blackberries and a hint of pencil eraser (resin?). Very light carbonation. Finish is lightly sweet and linger is of sweet roasted malt and some mild honey roasted nuts. I find no trace of alcohol. A very enjoyable stout.
