Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle. Very dark/black with small beige head. Licorice aroma with notes of coffee, roasted malts, a little chocolate and a little smoke. A slight hoppy note can be detected as well. Surprisingly smokey flavour. Not that it resembles a smoked beer, but it has a very nice touch of smokiness to the flavour already consisting of burned malts, licorice, coffee and a decen amount of bitterness in the end. Not the best impy I’ve had, but I like the fact that this one has character to seperate itself from so many others. I really enjoyed this one and would definitely drink it again even over other impys, that I’ve rated higher. I like smoke in my beer and especially in my whisky, but so far the Paradox series have been way to un-balanced for me. The element of smoke in this one could be slightly more significant, but this is probably overall the best and most interesting beer I’ve had from BrewDog. Also the first entered rating...

tk2 cask Aberdeen Beer festival 07 ... Deep solid black ... lots of roast malts ... good depth and good balance. 3.2->3.7

Dark chocolate brown color pour with a small, but lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is chocolate and coffee as well, with some roasted sweet malt and dark fruit. Smooth on the palate, but a bit thin. A touch of hops on the finish. Highly drinkable. A pretty good brew.

Dark color with faint head. Strong roasted malt aroma with a similar taste, though more chocolate.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a very dark brown with garnet highlights and a medium sized beige head. The aroma is very sweet malt with fruits. What seems to be missing is the roasted malt. The flavor does pick up a nice roasted quality. It is still on the sweeter side with dark fruits, chocolate, char and light smoke. This seems a bit thinner than most imperial stouts. Enjoyable; much more so than any of the Paradox beers.

Batch 002 bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a black body with a quickly vanishing head that still leaves behind some lacing. Aroma has lotos of alcohol and chocolate. Taste is malty with light chocolate, bitter coffee and a bit of caramel. Mouthfeel is syrupy.

SDFOB-2008. Bottle. Very rich dark in color. Very smooth and soft Imperial Stout. Good bittersweet chocolate, some fruity flavors come in later. Some chewy roasted malts. Real good. Resampled in a better setting: Sweet roasted malt nose with a touch of oak cherry. Pours night black with a small off white head. Taste of subtle chocolate. OK. Medium bodied, smooth semi-dry finish. Easy to drink.
