Jul 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a paperthin light tan head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a sweet roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Thin mouthfeel and very watery on the palate with a light roasted malt and a bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink. A decent Imperial Stout from BrewDog.

May 5, 2008 (Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki on 2008-02-15) Black. Big brownish head. Smoke and roasted malts in nose. Very full bodied. Perhaps even too heavy for my taste. Still, a good imperial stout.

Dec 14, 2009 Brewdog Rip Tide 12/12/09 (bomber, says best before 9/9/09. Pours dark brown-purple, with almost no head. Aroma of raisins, peat, dark chocolate and a touch of sweet molasses. Body is medium and mild carbonation, a bit thin for the style. Flavor can be described simply as dark chocolate with an earthy, raisin-infused element. Not much roasts or coffee here. I’m not really impressed by this one. And this is the second Brewdog beer I’ve felt the same about (Punk IPA being the other). Lacks the body, complexity, and, well heck, the alcohol, of my favorite bold Impy Stouts.) 3.6.

May 25, 2009 Black-red. Fast, soapy head. Aroma: Roasted choc. malt, vanilla. Flavor: Same, then hop kick. Strong bitter finish.

Aug 24, 2009 Nice dark color and small off-white head. The beer is a little bit clear and has a surprisingly good drink ability for an impy stout. Still very good, but lacking complexity.

Aug 25, 2008 Batch 004 Best Before 09/09/09 Pitch black pour with a very thin light tan head that rims the glass but otherwise disappears. Potent roasty character with slight hoppiness and some bitter chocolate. Nice roasted malts in the taste and a nice but not overly bitter hop finish. A little one-dimensional even for a fairly classically styled RIS. Nice burnt smoke aftertaste lingers.
