| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2009 Cask at RnH. Near black with a beige head. Roasted malty aroma, with tar and molasses. The flavor has a pretty distinct smoky note, almost like burlap, as well as coffee and roasted malt. Not very subtle, but quite tasty. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Bottled, bbe 01/2009. Dark brown to black, lacing tanned head. Nose is burned, slightly syrupy and woody, piney hops. A bit like Koff porter with more hops. Full and intensive flavor, strong liquorice, burned malt and piney hops. Sweetish, but finishes drier with grapefruity bitterness. Medium to full bodied, oily palate. Intensive and well hopped, but that liquorice gets maybe a bit too overpowering sometimes. taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Dark ruby, almost black, with only a small pale head that dissipates quickly. There are strong notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee on the nose with lesser hints of lavender. It is almost creamy on the palate without being thick or overly dense. The flavour is less agressive than the nose (or the packaging) would suggest-it is almost graceful without being dainty.
