Dec 30, 2007 Cask @ The Rake, Borough. Pours a black color with an off-white head. Roasted fruity malty chocolate aroma with some hints of coffee. Sweet roasted malty chocolate flavor. Has a long warming malty chocolate finish with some hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mar 2, 2009 It’s a stout so it’s dark.....VERY dark!! Bursts with clean crunchy roast barley, hint of bitterness and a nice malty sweetness. It’s not as big as I’d expected but still has a fair bit of body. Finish is superb, goes on for ages with the alcohol hitting after a few minutes. Very satisfying.

Nov 2, 2009 Bottle: EXtremely dark ruby-amber coloured, small - but stable - tanned foamy layer; solid dry aromas of roasted malt & molasses on one dide, balanced by sweet dried fruits on the other side; full bodied, mellow instead of merciless, moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour; increasing bitterness in the robust sweet (fruity) - bitter (roasted malt, molasses) finish, lingering dry malty bitterness in the aftertaste. Good chunky brew...............

May 16, 2009 22.4 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate tan head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left an almost solid sheet of foam on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and prunes. The roasted malt is more dominant in the flavor, while the chocolate takes a step back. A bit of prune in the flavor as well along with a few notes of tobacco. Moderate bitterness. Medium-full bodied. Enjoyable.

Jan 13, 2008 Lovely balance impy stout. Almost black with a small declining beige head. Hints of smoke and liqourice in the coffee dominated aroma. Somehow i find this quite "old school" - more chocolate, and roastiness than big heavy bite from hops. Straightforward and an instant favourite.

Almost pitch black, low carbonation. Coffee, some smokiness, warming glow. Nice chocolaty aftertaste.
