Commercial Description:
What does it mean? Yes, what indeed does it all mean. Meaning of course is elusive and illusive. It can’t or shouldn’t be found on the bottle. Should it? Yet what if it was? Would you begin to look for pearls of wisdom or life direction on a beer label.Perhaps it has been there all along.Since meaning is a mear illusion, perhaps we shouldn’t let it have any influence on our destiny. This particular beer refused to succummb to the illusion of meaning or allow capricious parameters to have any influence on its own fermented fate. Are you even asking the right question? Are you feeling frustrated in the emptyness? If so that could be because craig got to this beer before you, and thus theres a reason for that emptyness. Its empty. And if so perhaps there indeed is not any meaning for you here after all. Style over Substance , or Substance over the scriptures of Style? The latter thank you very much. Twice.

12 oz draft served in a clear pint glass at The Brass Rail. Pour was a thin cherry coke with an inch of tan head. This was surprising considering it was banded as in IPA?? Nose was hops, roasted malts, toffee, citrus, and earth. Taste was much the same. This brew comes off as a crazy porter that was arrived at by mixing a stout and an IPA together. I would not drink this often, but I did really enjoy it. I think this one rivals Magic Hat for mystique when it comes to style.

330ml Bottle: Aroma of hops, pine, resin, chocolate, citrus, malts, and a hint of roasting. Poured dark brown/cherry-wood in color with a medium-sized, rocky, dense, tan/light brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is light to medium bitter. Tastes of malts, light cocoa, hops, pine, light citrus, slight dark chocolate, slight roasting, light resin, and a hint of pepper. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malt, hop, pine, and hint of roasting finish is slightly dry. 8.6%ABV is hidden throughout.

bottle from citywide. pours a deep brown with a frothy tan head. leaves some slick lace. Notes of orange, citrusy hops, toffee, earth. very smooth. a nice fruity citrusy aroma to it. seems like a really hoppy oatmeal stout. the beer is neat, but its not too great. the taste is a little weird.

A very nutty nose, with a hint of baked bread. The taste falls somewhere between a stout and a porter. Hops are evident, and quickly consumed by that same nutty bread. It finishes with a hint of coffee flavor. Good beer!

From bottle at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Black with a small tan head. Smoked malts aroma bledning with grassy hoppiness. More malty in the mouth, showing off roasted and some smoked malts. Full body. Interesting rather than brilliant.

11.2oz bottle served in a snifter. Dark mahogany brown pour with a thin head of loose, large tan bubbles that lingered around for a while. Spotty lacing. The aroma consisted of chocolate, burnt caramel, licorice, English hops, and a hint of smoke. The flavor had bittersweet chocolate, rich caramel, mild coffee, burnt wood, and also some underlying notes of pine and citrus. Creamy smooth and full-bodied, softly carbonated. The flavor is all over the map, kind of like a hoppy stout...but it works pretty well. Not bad.

Small brown head, retention is fair, lacing is stringy. Almost black in color though some ruby edging is apparent. Nose of faint licorice and pine, light roast and wood. Med/full body, oily on the palate, chewy and slick. I get the hops though dark malts are moreso, chocolate, light roast, ash and some charred wood, faint coffee notes appear as it warms. Finish is fruity with some raisins and lightly smokey. Interesting but i could,nt down too much of this. Nice effort. Bottle acquired @statelineliquors.

12 oz. Hoppy, lightly smoky. Oily palate, bitter finish, piney. Not bad.
