Full of earthy woodiness and with a sweet fruity base. A very complex beer and hard to evaluate in a rushed beer festival envoirenment.

Pours like a dirty motor oil with a loose frothy head. Smells of chocolate and caramel. The long complex name is suited to the complexity of the beer. The hoppiness of an IPA mixed with the depth and mouthfeel of a stout. Deep chocolate almond taste with a citric tang. lamas (736), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2010 11.2 oz. bottle. Batch #352. Bottled on: 12/19/10 (but that can’t be right). A very deep mahogany pour with a thin mocha head. A pungent aroma of grapefruits and pine along with rich caramel, milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and alcohol, all of which become MUCH more pronounced, and actually dominate, as it warms up a bit. Solidly medium-bodied. Roasted malty flavors upfront with a good deal of coffee and some toffee. A touch earthy. Vanilla in the transition. Some bitter grapefruits at the tail end (though not as intense as I expected from the aroma). Drying finish. Some underlying alcohol throughout. Solid. TimE (1368), Tokyo, Japan

Rich dark chocolate on top of coffee cake and caramel mouth. Very nice malt backbone. Full bodied. Much more of a strong ale over an IPA. Well balanced. The coffee cake and dark chocolate linger in the finish. Superb. markdredge (21), Kent, England

It’s black, tastes Belgian and has lots of hops. An awesome UK-US tag team and I hope there are more collaborations. KimJohansen (7205), Copenhagen V, Denmark

Smells a tiny bit oddly plasticky, with some fruit and coffee. Taste replays aroma the coffee and fruit, with a notable hop dryness. Some lemon and grassy hop flavor. At least they are having fun, these dogs who are brewing. jimbowood (983), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Bottle from pp bottle shop. Pretty nondescript brew. I was hoping for more. Why even brew this beer. It took 2 breweries to come up with this? Like a hoppy, watered-down porter.
