Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

From bottle. DLM Friday tasting. Pours amber with short head. Aroma of caramel malt and spice. Finish was short. Decent effort but too expensive to buy again.

Pours a clear amber color with a small foamy head that fades slowly. Sweet toasted caramel malt, light fruit and citrus in the aroma and flavor. Very light hoppy finish. A bit thin on the palate. Not a bad brew, but there are better ambers to be had for a much lower price.

Bottle batch 006 best before 08/08/09. A caramel malt candy aroma on finish bland aroma to start with. Caramel body with flat head. Beer is watered down and has some caramel, spice and fruit noticable. Flat beer and stale aftertaste. Blah...

From the bottle this pours a deep gold body with a smallish head and spotty lacing. It’s got an aroma of caramel, white bread toast, and apples. A nice bitter, peppery element is added to the flavor along with some earthiness. It would be repeatable if it didn’t cost so much.

Light amber in color, slight cloudiness to it, small white head that falls fast. Toasty bready malts up front, fruit and toffee in the sweetness. Hops give a earthy note, lightly spicy in the finish. Body is thin and a bit watery. Overall mild flavor, but a good session beer, although for the price it’s a tough buy.

Bottle from O’Brien’s San Diego. Aroma of sweet malts, strong American hops, vanilla: very complex and well balanced. Hoppy flavor but in a one dimensional way, with some sweet caramelish hints. The aroma was very nice, but it was therefore a big disappointment in the flavor which is not as complex.
