Nose held soft elements of milk chocolate coated grapefruit and hints of toasted caramel grains. Moderate floral citric bitterness balances on a light sweet caramel backbone. A touch of fruitiness round this out well. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Nice for sessions if not for the price tag... Pours clear copper-amber, moderate beige head with a little bit of retention. Delicate aroma of sweet mash with hints of caramel and yeast. Flavor starts quite sweet and ends with a noticeable hop spiciness that develops into a very long and peppery finish. Fairly rich mouthfeel, good carbo that doesn’t overwhelm. This was a very pleasant surprise; my reaction to North American Amber Ales has been very ho-hum in the past but the Scots seem to know a thing or two we don’t. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 26, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of foamy mostly diminishing finely sized tan colored bubbles that left behind a transparent amber colored softly carbonated body. The mouth feel was strongly tingly and crisp from start to finish. The aroma was of mild malts and dough bread. The flavor was simply hoppy and malty. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Medium sized off-white head that mostly expired, very little lacing, visible carbonation, mostly transparent and also slightly hazy, and a golden hue. The aroma was malt, caramel, sweet, mildly hoppy, and citrus. The flavor was malt, some caramel, hoppy, citrus, and a dry finish. The mouthfeel was tingly and this was a medium bodied beer. Quaffable brew, easy to drink, and while not a great beer IMO it is worthy of a try. bembelembe (152), Zagreb, Croatia

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2008 Wee bottle from Tesco. Good mix on the nose, malt & fruit. Clear amber with a thin white head. Well balanced palate, with a noticable citrus acidity. Fairly complex brew, but would be easy enough to drink in quantity though! shoestring (187), larkhall, Scotland

Thick cookie/caramel/biscuit mouthfeel. I did enjoy it. ’Overpowering’ is too strong a word for the taste, but I could have done with either a pint of it, or another bottle - just to truly get to grips with the complexity of it.
