Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Bottle (batch 001). Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is clear light amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie, caramel), moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot, orange), with a hint of dried mango. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. A damned fine Bitter. As this warmed, I kept waiting for dough, metal, or diacetyl aromas to spring out, but they never did. Refreshingly assertive bitterness of the low-alpha type and thus very clean...virtually perfect balance that makes it extremely hard to stop drinking. Not "exciting" per se (the aroma is attractive, but fairly straightforward), but then again the style rarely is. Remarkably enjoyable to just sit back and quaff...would be a perfect pub offering. Pretty much flawless. Attention to detail was clearly devoted during brewing...not a single rough edge to be found by my senses. Major kudos to the brewer on this one.

Clear amber brown, moderate eggshell head. Sweet toffee aroma. Rich generous toffee malt, light fruity hops, with a bitter, almost tart, finish that is very quenching. It reminds me of a California common in style. Delicious!

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Malty caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty and slightly dusty hoppy finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Nose: Soft and hoppy, caramel and a touch of yeastiness. Palate. Straightforward amber style with loads of grapefruity hops. Caramely malt finishes.

It appears these are now available in CT. Pours amber with a thin white head. Smells tangy and citrussy with some underlying tea compliments. Tastes citrussy and sweet with a slightly earthy finish. Not bad, but their line of IPAs are much better.
