Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

(22.4oz bottle, Batch 002, best by 06/06/09) Small but fluffy off-white head atop hazy amber body -- very cask-like. Aroma is mild, dough/caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, grapefruit/citrus, light herb. Smooth light-medium body, light acidity. A solid beer, but way overpriced, at least here in the states.

22.6 oz bottle - Pours clear copper with a one finger head. It has a mild aroma of fruity hops and some malt in the background. The flavor is a well balanced caramel malt and moderate hops that has some light fruit notes. It’s a little thin and has a moderately bitter finish.

Bottle, Rainhall Drinks, Barnoldswick. Never my strong point Physics, but this ain’t a bad brew from the doghouse. Poured a murky amber colour with a restrained off white head. Fragrant hoppy aroma with some maltiness lurking. Caramel malt, marmalade, and grassy hop in the flavour. Quite a bitter finish. Pretty good stuff.

Pours a dirty yellow with a small off white head. Aroma is malty with a little spicy hop. Flavor is bitter hops that mellow into a decent bit of malt with the bitterness lingering on the tongue.

Murky dark orange pour. At first I get some grapefruit hops but as it warms the malt takes over and gives you a caramel sweetness. There is a toffee like finish with a thick sweet full mouth feel. Aroma is faint fruit with some prune and plum.

courtesy of jdubfl. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is malty, grains and caramel. Taste, similar to aroma, notes of malts, caramel, light butterscotch mouthfeel.

My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of Presario. Pours a clear golden-amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Nice aroma of fruit, light hops and caramel malt. Flavour’s hoppier then expected, backed by caramel malt and has a long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Ambers tend to be dull and crappy, kudos to BrewDog for brewing an interesting and tasty one -- me likey!

(Rating #2173)
