Looks fine, pours very deep brown/black with very littlelight passing through. Light beige head, quite creamy looking. Aroma is fruity with definite roasted notes, a decent whack of vanilla cream, a little dustiness and some earth. Flavour is very roasty with lots of earth and bitter coffee, some dark chocolate, good bitterness coming from the almost charcole burnt flavours. Palate is ok, perhaps a little on the bubbly side. Finish is nice and bitter. A very easy session dark beer, I’m not mad for it, but it is made well for what it is.

Flavour is great dark roasted malts, that finishes with a hint of sweetness and drying tannins. Another superb beer from these guys. Steely (176), , Sweden

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Bottle at Håndverkerstuene. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights with a beige head that fades to a ring. Aroma is burnt and roasted malts, slightly sour and ashy. Some sweet caramel and nuts. Kinda bock-like. It sort of dries out the mouth a bit in the finish, but has got a solid malt sweetness. Carb is lively. Body is medium to light. Drinkable, would make a decent sessioner if I didn’t get tired of the sour ashiness. Travlr (787), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Aroma of cocoa and roasted coffee with milk.
Flavor begins with dark milk chocolate and progresses to a roasted malt finish.
Nice full body.
Decent brew, very desirable. NoiZe (1382), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands

Flavor is roasted malts with a metallic bitterness. Sticky palate. Overall a nice schwarzbier, but not outstanding in flavors. BeerChaser0078 (377), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours very dark ruby, almost black, with a small bubbly tan head that doesn’t last long. Aroma has some slight sweetness and notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice and cherry. Flavour is not so sweet but is otherwise quite similar, particularly the malt, and licorice. Medium bodied with minimal carbonation and a nice, mild bitter finish. Overall a very good beer and an interesting interpretation of the style.
