hellbilly (739), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jun 29, 2008 hazy orange/gold with a tight spongy white head and lots of spotty lacing. big time aroma of bananas with spices, sweet grain, lemon and yeasty dryness. the palate is a bit sweet but it is cleared up with a dry yeasty spicy finish. lots of fruit in the flavor mostly creamy bananas but there is some sour lemon zest thrown in as well. also, touches of yeast and vanilla cream. medium body but quite soft and airy. reminds me of a banana vanilla ice cream shake... dlovell2 (87), Columbia, Maryland, USA Oct 25, 2007 Cloudy golden color. Bannana hops aroma. Yeast and bannana flavor. Not my cup of tea. Probablya fine Hefeweizen, but I don’t really care for Hefeweizens. acrdz (4095), Pennsylvania, USA Jun 2, 2007 Pretty standard hefeweizen, hit the banana and wheat and lemon scents right. Yeasty and full in the flavor, lightly sweet, lightly sour, lightly acidic, a solid, refreshing hefeweizen, but most breweries these days make this exact same beer. Still, it’s tasty. chris_o (4395), London, Greater London, England May 24, 2007 Draught, at the brewpub, July 2006. Hazy pale orange colour. Plenty of cloves and vanilla in the aroma. The flavour still has a yeasty fruitiness but is more citric. Like other Brewers Alley beers it seemed to have a quite high level of residual sweetness but that wasn’t a problem here. Nothing spectacular but a decent, sold hefeweizen.
Derek881 (283), Frederick, Maryland, USA Apr 25, 2007 Hefeweizen is generally not one of my top styles, but this one stood out from many I have had. It had a medium yellow color, was very cloudy, and had a small, bubbly white head. The aroma was fruity (especially banana) and some citrus hops, with a good wheat and yeast combination too; it was harder to pick out the vanilla notes. The taste was sweet with a sour-wheat finish. It was very wet and full, but with a somewhat drier, wheaty finish. The mouthfeel was fairly full and carbonation was mild.
