ON CASK at Brewer’s Alley. Wonderful hop aroma! Smells incredibly fresh, like hops on the vine. Taste reflects this as well, and yet it’s surprisingly not bitter. The ratio of hop aroma/flavor to bitterness is very high. The perfect IPA for people who don’t like very bitter beers. Since it’s on cask, it’s fairly warm and very low in carbonation which lets the hops shine through. Malt is present, but stays in the background.

Draught @ brewery: Bright orange color, towards the lighter side of orange, slightly cloudy, with a medium head. The head just simply will not quit, as I remarked on just about every one of their beers, the head sticks with nice lacing. The aroma is citrus/pine/floral hops all the way, though not quite to the level of west coast hop juice(not necessarily a bad thing), with a hint of toast/grainy malts. Taste is very hoppy up front (though it’s flavor, not ibu’s that hit you) with a solid bitter, citrus, pine taste all the way through. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, with a full mouthfeel. Finishes lightly bitter with floral hops in the nose and mouth.

Draft at the brewpub. Light amber with no head. Crisp and clean, this is a neat American pale ale. Lightly citric in flavor, but you really don’t get the citric bite until the final foll of beer off your tongue. Quite good. (#2657, 1/15/07)

(Sample Date: 2/28/2009 Source:Other) At the brewery. Grassy floral hop aroma. Some backing caramel. Clear golden with a small fine white head. Grassy floral hop flavor, clean, with a medium body and mouthfeel. Great fairly bitter finish.

on cask (better than on tap)-pours a retaining off white head that laces and copper/amber color. Aroma is nice citrus/pine northwest hops (cascade, Amarillo?), secondary medium malt-caramel. Taste is nice citrus/pine northwest hops (cascade, Amarillo?) with a hit of bitter, secondary medium malt-caramel. Minimum/soft carbonation.

Copper color with an average head. Hoppy aroma with doses of citrus. Crisp, bitter taste that also reflected the citrus overtones. Good malt balance, maybe more noticable because it was dispensed from a firkin. Nice smooth finish.

Nice coppery yellow, slow effervescence. Muted malt aroma. Tangy, medium bitter - not super hoppy and more of a PA than IPA style. Very clean and drinkable. Longish hop-bitter finish. Some sunflower seeds and nuts. Great balance.

On tap at the brewpub on 1/19/07: Pours a transparent bronze with a thin-lacing off-white head. Lightly sweet malty aroma has a touch of grapefruity hops. Body starts with a good balance of lightly toasted malty sweetness and fresh citrusy hops.

On cask at the brewpub on 1/19/07: warmer and less carbonated as expected, but is slightly more complex and drinkable with a touch of fruity esters.
