Commercial Description:
A British style that has a roasted nut-like aroma. Brewed with a number of dark malts, which lend a complex malt character. This beer does not have a lot of hop bitterness, only enough for balance. 5.2 - 5.6% alcohol, by volume

I had to adjust the score. Tried one today. Not quite the same. Less malt. Crisp, clean finish. Better balance than before. They have a new brewmaster. Today’s taste was not an improvement. This beer rocks. A beautiful amber hue. A very malty and nutty nose. Malty, but not sweet. Perfectly balanced. Did I mention MALTY? A perfect brown ale.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark roasty brown with a thin but firm tan top. Nice and full-bodied, moderately nutty with a solid malt base. Perfect accent of lightest bitter finish. Hint of smoke, too.(#2656, 1/15/07)

Clear, medium cherrywood brown-red. Thin filmy-beady head. Cereal aroma. Cereal, grassy nut flavor, lightly tart, medium-light sweetness with a roasty underpinning. Medium-heavy mouth, roasty, tart finish. Kudos to the brewmaster, well done.

Cask conditioned with a murky brown appearance, small head and little lacing. Spicy aroma with hints of toffee. Sweet malt taste with a barely noticable hop presence. Spices reappear in the finish.

Served at the restaurant in a pint glass, the beer had a rich brown color with a faint red tint. It was dark and cloudy with a small, creamy tan head. The aroma was malt dominated with roasty and toasty nut malt and a touch of caramel. It had a creamy, fizzy mouthfeel and a wet body. The taste was not too sweet, more of a bitter feel with a slight sour edge. A solid nut brown ale, but not the brewery’s specialty.

pours a clear red/orange shade of medium brown with a thin off white head which fades to leave a film. faint aroma of caramel, toasted nuts, coffee and a light fruitiness. the flavor is definitely nutty and toffee toasted nearly to the point of being burned. dry finish with coffee and nuts exploding in the aftertaste. medium body well done and very quaffable...
