Commercial Description:
The dark malts used, give this beer a wonderfully rich aroma and taste. Strong roast and burnt characteristics. It is not hopped very heavily and oats are used in this particular beer because they lend a fuller mouthfeel.

Dark brown, clear, almost no head, light chocolate aroma, and light chocolate flavor, far too watery, needs balls.

Opaque black body. Small dense tan head. Huge roasted malt aroma. A bit one-dimensional but it realyl sticks around. Straight up choco-coffee flavor. The palate is very slick and medium full. Not bad.

Drinkable, but uninspired. If you only ever drink American bottled beer, then this could be the best beer you ever had, but if you are used to Unibroue and Ommengang, this will seem weak.

on draught and cask at brewery. both a dark brownish-black color with a small tan head, remnants of which splotched and lined the inner/upper part of the glass even after I’d finished it. The aroma is like strong roasted coffee with a hint of chocolate and alchol. tastes like sweetened coffee. the feel of the cask vs. draught is the big difference. cask is very full-bodied and creamy with less carbonation. feels really thick in your mouth. the draught is more carbonated and a medium-body. thinner than others of this style.

Out of the tap and also from the cask. Both were very dark with creamy, lasting head. Aromas of malts, chocolate, slight coffee. Draught version was a little more carbonated and thin. Both were excellent stouts

Draught and cask @ brewery: Dark brown, though moderately opaque when held up to light, with a small tan head that lasts (both cask and tap). Aroma is light roast malts, coffee, and chocolate. The cask version has just a hint of buttery diacetyl. Flavor is light roasted coffee, sweet roasted malt, grains, burnt chocolate, sweet oatmeal, and a hint of grassy hops. The cask version has a bit more buttery bready crust (though not too much diacetyl). Tap: medium carbonation, medium bodied, slightly watery, though crisp to be fair, mouthfeel. Cask: mild carbonation, creamy & medium thick mouthfeel, round. Like their other brews, this one is brewed well with quality ingredients.

WCCII - another growler courtesy of Hopscotch. Opaque ruby brown under a small shortish lasting medium beige head. Faint boot polish (methanol) alcohol and light roasted malt aroma. Clean smooth full melow palate. Low sweetness lightly bitter roasted malt. Pleasant mild bittersweet finish.
