The pour was more brown than red, slightly turbid and sat beneath a decent off-white head that was borderline creamy. The aroma was lots of malt and spices. The flavor was very malt heavy with nice spice but not as much fruitiness as I like. The mouthfeel was fine, solid carbonation that added life but wasn’t in the way. Skeegle (496), Maryland, USA

Fairly crisp despite a nice maltiness. Very good beer. Sammy (4030), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2008 On tap at the Frisco Grille in Columbia, Maryland. Poured a very nice red color with a nice white head. Aroma was fairly sweet with a hint of fruit and malt. Flavor was a bit different though. Kind of dry, a little less sweet but with a nice twang on the back end. Good beer. A little high ABV for a session beer, but the flavor is there for sure. brewandstew (11), Salisbury, Maryland, USA

Pretty good but a some heavier malt presence would overcome the sweetness & balance it out a little ealdent (45), Cumming, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Got it on draft at the Brewer’s Art (in Baltimore of course) at the recommendation of a German friend. Was a pretty decent dubbel. Lovely coppery color and smooth taste. Despite the description, it was a little too sweet.
