Medium bodied with a slight yeasty aroma. Initial flavor is a smokey peaty malt flavor. The caramel and cocoa hit the palate next. Then a touch of fruity esters. Finishes with a warming toasty dry hop flavor. Wonderfully blended but with a great layered complexity. Touch of citrus yeast zest somewhere in the middle. Plays over the palate. Well integrated and delicious. Arayaga2 (971), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste starts sweet, and becomes intensely bitter, like an overextracted tea.... but I mean that in the best way possible. Derek881 (495), Frederick, Maryland, USA

The beer poured a dark amber-orange color with a big tan head. The aroma was of sweet malts, featuring caramel and fruit notes. It started off sweet, but had a nice bitter finish, where the taste of alcohol was slightly present. A very wet beer with light carbonation and a good alcohol contribution. rdelljh (122), Pennsylvania, USA

Appears an orange tinted amber with a lush, off-white head. Little pieces of lacing are left.
Smell is of a lightly sweet, mildly spiced dubbel with a yeasty doughiness, caramel, sweet vanilla, and fruit highlighted by black grapes.
Taste is of the aromas. A nice change of pace from the candi-sugar sweet dubbels that overtake the yeast and grain that are the backbone of the style.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, only slightly sweet, along with a lingering of grapes and raisins that make for a light version of a dubbel. I’ve had this several times in the past with no rating to speak of. I’m glad they brought this one to Kennett. It’s such an easy drinking dubbel.
