[ Trade by CaptainCougar ]. Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, berry, brown sugar notes, moderate hoppy, orange, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20091024]

Oct 24, 2009 Bottle, 7.0%. Refreshing CO2 aroma. Hazy amber colour. The flavour is caramelly, nicely sweet. Has a little rough bitterness in the finish, but that rounds off the beer OK. Tastes like a Belgian beer all right.

Aug 5, 2004 Updated: Sep 25, 2004On Tap. Poured a deep mahagony color with a small head. Aromas of malts, light yeast, fruity and some spices. Sweet malty tasting with a light bitter finsih. Light sour palate. Different than most Dubbels I’ve had but not too bad. Rerate: On tap at Brewers Art. bumped up the numbers a little bit - better the second time around.

Oct 25, 2005 Enormous frothy, rocky off-white head lasts a while atop the cloudy orange pour. The rather vegetal hop may not be the fest fit for caramel and honey laden hops that would almost fit a barleywine were it not of the estery, fruity yeastiness (pear, pomegranate, pineapple, banana etc). It gains a bit of floweriness as it warms, but oily woodiness and vegetal profile take too much room for my enjoyment to culminate. Medium body, tart, citric lemonade feel toward the end.
