Got it on draft at the Brewer’s Art (in Baltimore of course) at the recommendation of a German friend. Was a pretty decent dubbel. Lovely coppery color and smooth taste. Despite the description, it was a little too sweet.

[ Trade by CaptainCougar ]. Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, berry, brown sugar notes, moderate hoppy, orange, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20091024]

Nov 23, 2009 Sampled at the Brewer’s Art in Baltimore: This was a highly anticipated beer for me to have. I had heard quite a bit about it before I got there and so I was really looking forward to it. A really nice beer, but I found a few others that I had on draught that day that were much nicer. Pours a dark amber colour with a two finger sized white head. Some dried fruit, hops and oak on the nose. Taste is pleasent. Very smooth and creamy with all sorts of flavours, but very mild. Not as full as I was expecting. Apple, biscuit malt, caramel and raisins.

Oct 25, 2009 Hazy amber with a tiny beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, prunes, plums caramel and hops. Finishef sweet.

Oct 24, 2009 Bottle, 7.0%. Refreshing CO2 aroma. Hazy amber colour. The flavour is caramelly, nicely sweet. Has a little rough bitterness in the finish, but that rounds off the beer OK. Tastes like a Belgian beer all right.

Oct 9, 2009 On tap. Pours amber with a light tan head. Sugary aroma with an earthy yeast and some spicy German hops. Flavor about the same, sweet with some bitter and sour. A bit syrupy with a slightly funky finish. Interesting beer, not my favorite from BA.

Sep 18, 2009 Straight from the tap at BA. Pours brown with off-white or tan head (low light in the dungeon). Aroma of nice spice, flavor was hoppy. Alcohol flavor lingers at the end. Goes down sort of disappointingly, considering the flavors...
