[my 100th Bohemian Pilsner, only my 5th style to reach a century]
Pours a deep, lightly orange golden with a small, frothy off-white head. Aroma is very pleasant, lots of floral, grassy hops. Some slight sweet brewing cereal and maize behind it, but in a good, well-balanced way. Medium carbonation, fine creaminess. Flavour has a rather subdued maltiness, light caramel and a heavy, brilliant dose of good bitter hops. Pine, grassy and flowery. Svesse (1621), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 2, 2008 (Draught at Svijanský Rytír, Prague, 22 July 2008) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, grainy nose with notes of toffee, caramel and slightly spicy, floral hops. Malty, fruity taste with toffee, caramel and slightly toasty, fruity hints. Bittersweet finish with floral, grassy hops. Perfect balance. Lovely pilsener! dEM1972 (44), , Czech Republic Jul 5, 2008 Almost the same in colour to other Pilsners; wonderful yeasty aroma; even from the bottle maintains the head; taste is rather sharp; pleasant enough after taste; I would say a slightly heavier taste, put it this way you know you are drinking something different. oh6gdx (5739), Vaasa, Finland Jul 3, 2008 Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, yeast, hops and some grass/hay. Flavour is quite much the same. Big grassy and fruity + malty finish and aftertaste. KnutAlbert (2165), Oslo, Norway Jul 1, 2008 Fine play between full malt flavour and hoppiness, giving flowers and dusty dryness.
A truly great beer, one of the very best Ive tried from the Czech Republic.
