The Red Biddy is a wonderful brew. Easy-drinking and congenial, it was the absolute perfect thing to enjoy along with a bowl (or three) of homemade potato soup on a rainy Irish afternoon, after a morning of soggy hiking. If ever you are in the west of Ireland, find it and drink it. It can be found here and there in Dublin as well.

From a 12-oz bottle shared by Badgerben poours a redish amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissolves toa film and white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some earthy herb spice, a touch of roasted nuts and nutmeg. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of caramel malt, some mincemeat raisin and some flowery hops. Finish is semi-dry with a mild bitter aftertaste.

Thanks to Badgerben for carting this back. Amber color with faint white head. Caramel nose with faint spiciness, but I didn’t really consider it a Christmas spice like Joe. Light hoppy flavor in the body and more malt.
