| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 27, 2007 Nothing kills my mood for a porter like black patent does. Something about that just makes me think of liking a charcoal briquette. This beer has plenty of that. Aroma was roasty, slightly nutty and a bit bready. Appearance was dark brown with red highlights. Mouthfeel was too thin for my liking. Flavor was charcoal, roasted malts and an odd sourness that I found unappealing. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown color with reddish-orange highlights. Head was light tan and left a little lace behind. Chocolatey and nutty malty aroma and flavor with only a hint of toasted bread. Medium bodied, moderately dry. Decent. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2006 tap at the brewpub. An outstanding porter that pours fairly dark with a large brown head that lasts. Definitely the best beer in their lineup. Aromas of choclolate and roasted malts, flavors of chocolate and a hint of nuts and coffee.
Very smooth and robust. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 12, 2006 Very rich and dark porter here. Plenty of burnt and roasted malt flavors here. A bit acidic, but that comes with the territory. Went great with the ranchers pizza. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
