Commercial Description:

Draught. Small and quickly disappearing off-white head. Hazy orange body. Floral aroma with notes of caramel and raisins. More hoppy than expected but the bitterness is definately bareable. Alcohol percentage well hidden by the bitterness. Low carbonation, long aftertaste.

Draught at the brewpub
Beautiful red-amber color, thin creamy head. Light aroma, with some esthers and candy like; not so good, but characterized by the house yeast; the good side is that at the end it smells a bit like a bag of hops. Good body strength, with a quite good caramel flavor, getting sweeter, and a balancing bitterness; there is also a hint of spices; creamy, almost buttery. Nothing special, but a consistent brew.

(On tap) Lightly hazy reddish brown with a fine and creamy - almost nitroish -beige head leaving a dense and pretty lacework. Some surprising buttery notes appear in the initial aroma, but that unwanted tang seems to evaporate and leave room for some fat aroma hoppiness. Quite a solid body, some nutty accents and a lightly burned edge that appear late. A little raw and unrefined bitterness. Not the world’s most subtle Barley Wine. 081107
