Commercial Description:
It seams as though at one time years ago this beer was a stout. It has since been renamed Black Duke Dark and styled to be a dunkel. This is our Dunkel or Munich Dark. A rich deep, amber brown lager. Medium bodied, soft to the palate, with just the slightest suggestion of chocolate and roasted coffee. Try something new after dinner, try something cool...Try the Duke! Malty and delicious from start to finish. (Old description: A dry oatmeal stout with a distinct roasted coffee flavor, a hint of chocolate flavor and a very delicate hop character. A special tap has been used to give this stout a creamy, smooth texture. ABV 4%)

tap. Copper color, bright and twinkling. Aroma of Munich Malts, some crystal. flavor of sweet grains, some bread, followed by a hop bitterness. Very balanced. I think this is the one I’d drink if I were a regular. 22 Nov 08. 5,4,8,4,13

Draft at the West Palm location.Clear coppery brown witha creamy tan head. Aroam iwth lots of caramel and a little spicy hops. Smooth, medium body, lightly carbonated, pleasant enough palate. Burnt caramel flavor with a dry, and lsightly washed out finish. Not bad, went well with the pizza that I had.

Poured up on tap at the Boca brewpub clear amber with wafer thin off white head. The aroma comes across as somewhat bready first with some malt roastiness and faint hops to follow up. The taste is roasty to nutty malts up front with a bit of bread to follow. And behind those notes are malt sweetness and some pine hops. It ends with tasty roasted malts bringing it to the dryer side for the finish.

On tap at the restaurant tonight. Brown pour, smal light tan head. Roasty malts hit your nose and dont leave room for much else. Flavor is malty, nutty, a bit fruity and honeslty is very lacking for this style. it is smooth and easy to drink, but it just isn’t that good.

Golden-brown and bright. Very toasty nose with hints of cocoa. Thin body, built for quaffability. A little bit of toast.

Draught at Boca Brewzzi. Amber with thin head. Aromas and flavors of diacetyl butter with some hop in the finish. Thin, flat palate.

Poured a light brown, almost dark copper color with a light brownish head. Smelled of roasted malts, maybe a touch of chocolate, andsome sweeter dark fruits. The palate right away seemed really thin to me and almost watery. Definitely could of used more body to it. The flavors seemed mostly of some roast and light vanilla. Pretty malty all the way through. Not really what Im looking for in a dunkel, actually pretty poor showing.

Draft at WPB. Copper with a tan head. Sweet, roast caramel nose, some light honey notes. Sweet caramel and honey flavors, light nutty bitter. OK.
