Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’08. Dark chestnut with slight malt head. Dark, roasty toasted notes, quite plummy with notes of liquorice and coffee overlaid with a sweetish caramel. Chocolate in the finish. Good stuff.

Cask at Macclesfield Beer festival. Dark brown with creamy yellow head. Chocolate, coffee, with a bitter aftertaste, Could do with a little more life. Didn’t care for it much but it certainly isn’t rubbish, just didn’t fly my kite.

Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008.
Clear medium to dark red brown color with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate hoppy, grape, licorice. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is flat. (020508)

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival 09-05-08 Pours dark brown with some nice ruby gints and an off white head. Good bitterness, nice roasty and chocolatey notes, this isn’t quite as memorable as it was the previous night when Glen passed me a little but its very decent stuff nonetheless.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 9/12/07 (badged at 4.5%). Dark mahogany colour with a ruby tinge and a slight tan head which left plenty of lacing. Light malt and chocolate aroma. Chocolate flavour with some spicing and a short, dry finish. Good.
