Commercial Description:
Yet another addition to the 1488 range - designed to reflect the original character of the beer which was once produced at the brewery sited here. Tullibardine 1488 Ales are distinctive, their characteristic traits beautifully balanced by a depth and complexity so closely associated with Tullibardine Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This truly remarkable Ale is best drunk chilled, perhaps being chased by a dram of your favourite Tullibardine Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Light bold brew with a large white head, quite good retention but no lacing. The aroma is warm with hints of grain, dry grainy crusted bread... did I mention bread?, some sweet fruit and cookies?. Well done on the taste: slight peat, a bit of tartness works well, a bit peatier after a couple of sips, well placed spice (mild), ok hops, bit ’o wood - oak actually.. a good amount of oak). Goes down fairly smooth. I like.

Hmmmm, is this an exclusive-to-Alberta release? So far there are only Alberta raters on the board! Weird. Pours a dirty golden with a lively but short-lived head. Very peaty, woody aroma. Lots of wood and peat flavours backed by gritty, dirty malt. Once again, I do not care for the marriage of pale malts and whiskey casks. Or maybe it’s simply that I haven’t met a brewer who is willing to put in the quantity and quality of pale malt to make it work? I don’t know. This was less buttery and oaky than Innis & Gunn, but it wasn’t any better.

Lightly colored dull browny gold ok looking white cap floating on top. Powerful stink coming from the beer sourish malts, lots of caramel, whiskey, and peat. Taste is fairly dark and malty, burnt wood some oak, and mild bitterness in the finish. Flavours of random chemicals keep appearing the finish is dominated by ash and apple makes a brief appearance. Bla blab la boring beer that shall never be purchased again.

This is not a beer for drinking. This is a beer for laying down and avoiding. Nose is prefumed malt, with a soapy, unappealing character. Palate was boring with an almost sickly sweetness. Bah! Terrible!

Been around for 2 years? and not even on the site?! 400ml bottle. Amber with a decent lasting bubbly head. Light skunky grass and grain aroma. The closest of the 1488s to Innes and Gun. Mouth drying finish. More barrel and whisky hints than beer. Very light beer with plenty of light whisky cask.
