Commercial Description:
Bottle filtered, 500ml.
"Brewed in the heart of Scotland using the finest malts, pure Scottish water and wild oats. This traditional stout has a creamy, toasted oatmeal flavour and is gently hopped. Complex roast malt aromas and a smooth silky aftertaste are characteristics of this ale. This stout is as mysterious and compelling as the Glen it is named after."

From the brewery, Scotland. Bottled, 220808. Black with white head. Aroma of coffee and malt. Flavor is of roasted barley with a tone of thick sweetness.

Bottled 50cl. It pours an almost black beer with a very small head. The nose is of roasted malt, tar, vegetables and coffee. Strange taste. Unpleasant mouthfeel. Some tar showing up. Astringent. Creamy peppery finish. Not all that pleasant.

Typically dark, the off white head fades away in about 2 mins, the nose lacks the expected roast malt, so does the palate for that matter. It is smooth and not as dry as I’d expected. Overall, a good stout, not classic, but good. The back label says it has been " triple filtered for added purity" ...what the f*ck does that mean, and what difference would it make??? Another small detail, the ingredients dont list oats!! Bought from Tesco.

Bottle bought in Glasgow. Dark brown, rapidly disappearing head. Lovely espresso flavour, some oats adding to the taste, too. Easy drinking without being bland, there is a compexity in the aftertaste, too. A little frutiy in the finish, some ashy dryness demanding another sip. Highly recommended!
