Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

Slightly thin looking black pour with a tan head that fades. Nose is a bit of licorice, some chocolate, and a small amount of dried fruit in the background. Palate is a bit thinner than I like in a stout. Flavor is licorice and sweet candied fruit.

TASTY! If you like a big. complex stout balanced by some residual sugar, this is the beer for you. The flavor expands in your mouth and lingers for at least a minute after the beer is gone. Nothing seems out of balance despite so many flavors.

Black color. Very nice aroma of roasted malt, caramel, wet cardboard, light cheese. Good mouthfeel, with a good mix of caramel, roasted malt, molasses and light liquorice. Very good Stout.

Nice but not exciting. The pour is dark with a decent tan head. The aroma is sweet, with roasted malt and coffee. The flavor is sweet with the molasses definitely coming through. Decent balance of the hops in the finish. The carbonation was a tad bit fizzy, but overall the mouthfeel is nice.

Pours a nice dark black with a little tiny blonde head. Chocolatey smell. Stouty flavor, mocha-ish, but kind of watery mouthfeel. Sweet, but not obnoxiously so. Not very much texture or challenge to it. Still, not terribly bad, a good little drinker. I’d probably buy Guinness instead of this, though, unless I was feelin’ kinda froggy.

Pours nearly impenetrable ruby black with the slightest thin orange-hued, tan head. Mild aroma of hops and chocolate. Light flavor of bitter chocolate, and some warm caramel. Balanced and dry. It’s good, just not very upfront in any one flavor. It’s a little watery, especially for a stout, but good.
