Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

Bottle from santa - Pours a very dark ruby color with minimal head - dry, roasty aroma, with background chocolate malt, vanilla, cream and minerals - a little thin-bodied - the flavor is about what you’d expect from the style, though - quite dry, with a salty, hard water quality, tempered by a mild sweetness backed by coffee and molasses - thin, flat finish - drinkable, but a ho-hum offering.

Pours thiner than expected with a medium full deep beige head. Aroma is pretty light. The initial sip is rich, dense full of molasses, with a tad of hop bite. An easy drinking stout.

Dark drown with a small diminished off tan head. Dark chocolate, light tar and hearty sour dough bread aromas. Somewhat thin in feel. Roasted malts, chocolate nips and a dry molasses impute. A touch underdeveloped for a stout in my book. Thanks Tom.

Black, thin tan creamy head. Roasty nose that included soft tones of cocoa, molasses, toast, and milk chocolate. Flavor was very similar with additional cherry and mild coffee tones. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, roasty bittersweet finish. Tasty, just nothing outstanding...

Bottle: Courtesy of Duane via trade. Aroma of roasted grain, chocolate, caramel, piney hops, and light coffee. Dark brown with some transparency that yields some faint orange hilights and a small tan head. Chocolate, roasted grain with some black coffee and light piney finish. Only a touch of molasses in the background. Flavors are a tad light. Mouthfeel is a little thin.

Coco maltyness with a dry long finish, a good thick stout that comes from a good brewery.

Thoroughly dark appearance, with crimson shining through, slim layer of cocoa foam...aroma: dusky, chocolate whiffs, bit o’ nuts and ...that’s enough... Taste? chocolate and coffee all the way, with cocoa riding highest, fullness of flavor, but never too large... very full in flavor, a big chocolate stout, medium bodied, with a long, cocoa-infused finish...a nice, easy-drinking stout. A sessionable stout, with plenty of pleasures. I am very happy that this is now available locally, although it must compete with Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout for space in my refridgerator.

Pours dark brown with a medium dark tan head. Delicous cocoa aroma with molasses, floral hops, and plum. There’s definitely a lot of hops in this one, but that’s a good thing - it’s well balanced for a dry stout. It’s not the least bit complex however. There’s a taste of malt and grains, and a hops presence, but that’s it. Has a milky texture, but is pretty thin as well. It’s very similar to Guinnes, but not as good.
