| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 16, 2006 4 ounce sample at the brewpub in Portland, OR. Nitro. Roasty, chocolate malts in the aroma with more hops than the porter. A bit of peppery hoppiness and bperhaps some black malts as well. Same color as the porter, except it has a creamier and bigger head (due to the nitro) that is light tan. Creamy, lightly sweet flavor. A little bit of choco-roastiness. Pretty flavorless. Very reminiscent like Guinness brown water. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2006 bottle 12 oz. Diminishing head. Aroma and flavor aren’t bad for an inexpensive stout. Relatively fresh and clean tasting without much of the burnt rubber experience. A bit thin on the palate but OK to drink. Good combo of dark roasted semi sweet malt with moderate hop bitterness. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2006 a mass of well-organized and team-oriented black molecules cram together to preclude the passing of light-- and they nearly succeed-- only a bruised, blushing and bent up portion of the red spectrum makes it through the gauntlet. aside from it’s antagonistic issues with light, it seems a well adjusted beverage. a palomino colored head piled up thick as a door mat after a quick, thirst accelerated pour. it stuck like a cockleburr to the beer and to the glass. well-kilned black malts ably describe the worn leather of old riding boots, an alcohol-tinged note of cherry strained through burlap, and almond toffee. pleasant but barely medium-bodied impact on the tongue, a bit of sweetness amid stove-top char, watery coffee, raisin bread and finally a docile little nibble of bitterness. perhaps too carefully constructed, nothing much emerges-- certainly nothing involving substansial amounts of blackstrap mollasses. so run along home now little stout-- run back to your porters where you belong. scoot! timtheenchanta (70), Clemson, South Carolina, USA

Pitch black with large tan head. Thick fluffy head with beautiful webby lacing.
Milky coffee smell with rounded out with smooth sweet caramel and some dark fruit.
Creamy milky feel. Black coffee taste. Not a bad stout but it finishes a little dry and sharp like when I make coffee and don’t use enough water. BeerCommonSewr (67), North Carolina, USA

Aroma: Roasted chocolate malts were evident in the scent as was an odd underlying coffee/charred oak scent that was not unpleasant.
Appearance: High marks here as it was nice deep almost black brown with a nice thick head made up of medium tan bubbles with lacing.
Flavor: Nice sweet and smoky chocolate
Palate: Started sweet with the alcohol lingering towards the finish on your tongue.
Overall: Quite solid for my first beer from this brewery. Compares nicely with other Stouts which are definitely one of my favorite varieties of beer.
