Outstanding chocolate bitterness in the aroma, some light malt accents. Awesome taste, light caramel, malts, thin chocolate body. Very nice ending, some creamy mollasses. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2006 Bottle on sale for 5.99/6-pack. NIce cream colored head with decent lacing. HInts of roast, burnt coffee beans and some biscuit/breadiness. Hop character is evident but not overwhelming and diminishing the malt profile of this wonderful stout. The finish is dry and pleasant making this stout extremely quaffable! illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with a thin brown head. Faint aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Very typical, but solid stout flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, and some hop bitterness. Very clean finish. A decent session stout. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2006 Black pour with a diminishing dark tan head. Aroma is something that can be picked up from a few feet away. Sweet chocolate with a touch of bitterness. The body is exceptionally smooth and full in my mouth. Almost chewy. Flavor is a delicate mix of chocolate, both creamy and burnt. There are also some hops hiding in there as well. A beautiful session stout. brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA

Pours very dark coffee brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma has strong alchohol component (reminds me of rubbing alcohol) plus coffee, chocolate. Pretty good lacing. Watery mouthfeel. Flavor: mostly pungent alcohol upfront, with coffee and chocolate. Flavor really not exceptional even without that sweet alcohol burn. natecc (5), Franklin, Tennessee, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2006 The Black Strap Stout has a very appealing look and an even better taste. While a stout it had a very smooth taste.
