Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

Black color with a creamy white head. Sweet chocolate and toffee aroma with hints of roasted malts. Sweet caramel and toffee flavors with some light astringency. Thanks to CaptainCougar for sending this to Richmond.

Huge thanks to CaptainCougar for this excellent stout! Outstanding chocolate bitterness in the aroma, some light malt accents. Awesome taste, light caramel, malts, thin chocolate body. Very nice ending, some creamy mollasses. Excellent beer.

Bottle on sale for 5.99/6-pack. NIce cream colored head with decent lacing. HInts of roast, burnt coffee beans and some biscuit/breadiness. Hop character is evident but not overwhelming and diminishing the malt profile of this wonderful stout. The finish is dry and pleasant making this stout extremely quaffable!

Bottle. Pours black with a thin brown head. Faint aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Very typical, but solid stout flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, and some hop bitterness. Very clean finish. A decent session stout.

Black pour with a diminishing dark tan head. Aroma is something that can be picked up from a few feet away. Sweet chocolate with a touch of bitterness. The body is exceptionally smooth and full in my mouth. Almost chewy. Flavor is a delicate mix of chocolate, both creamy and burnt. There are also some hops hiding in there as well. A beautiful session stout.

Pitchbalck appearance with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malt aroma. Has a smooth brunt charcoal flavor with a little choclate mixed in. Good seesion stout.

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 target=blank>beeryum, thanks Dave!) Pours very dark coffee brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma has strong alchohol component (reminds me of rubbing alcohol) plus coffee, chocolate. Pretty good lacing. Watery mouthfeel. Flavor: mostly pungent alcohol upfront, with coffee and chocolate. Flavor really not exceptional even without that sweet alcohol burn.

The Black Strap Stout has a very appealing look and an even better taste. While a stout it had a very smooth taste.
