Dark brownish black in color with a tan head. Sweet coffee aroma. The first sips starts with an expresso taste that slowly fads to a slight bitterness. I had to drink the whole pint to make sure I really liked this beer. The aftertaste stays with you until you take another sip. A very good beer for the dark beer drinker in you.

Bottle. Pours a deep black color with an attractive brown head that fades and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is roasted grain, coffee and a light sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Flavors are coffee, just a hint of molasses, caramel and some slight hop bitterness towards the finish. Fairly good.

Bottle Pours a clear very dark but not quite opaque black with a moderate light tan head and spotty lacing. Lots of sweet dark roasted aroma with some coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor is a roasted slightly bitter smokiness, easy on the hops and some slightly sour porter like flavors. Coffee here as well but not too strong. Fairly thin feel and moderate carbonation. Prety nice.

GABF 2005: What can I say - I don’t like coffee and it tasted like coffee. It looked good and didn’t smell too bad but, the taste just killed me.

Black Coloring with Tan Head. Coffee Roasts Aroma. Nice Malt Notes. Bitter Taste Makes Coffee Roasts Seem a Bit Stale. Sweet Malt and Bitter Coffee and a Dry Ending. Nice Stout But a Bit Uninteresting.

Poured a nearly opaque brownish black in color with a minimal tan head. Aroma is strong: roasted malt with a touch of coffee and alcohol. Flavor is interesting with a slightly dry and bitter front end fading into a bittersweet chocolate. A bit thin on the palate, but a very good beer nonetheless.

The bottle poured a dark Garnet to black beverage with a medium sized tan colored bubbly head that did not last long and left almost no lacing. The aroma presented sweet caramel up front with hints of raisin and coffee in the background. The body was medium to full with medium carbonation and a smooth texture. The flavor starts off with sweet malt and a hint of prune hiding in the background. The middle brings out an alcohol warmth and hints of banana and roasted coffee. The finish is long and smooth while the banana continues to lurk in the background.

Pours very dark with a lasting head. Pleasing roasted malt aroma. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side but the roasted malt flavors come through nicely. Dry stouts are not my favorite style but this is a solid beer.
