Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

Thanks to Aspidites for sharing this at the Valley brewing tasting. Black pour with a tan head, this had a nice flavor of roasted grain and coffee.

Black in color with a decent sized tan head. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malts, and a little chocolate. Taste is of caramel, coffee and rasted malts.

Solid black pour. Heavy aroma of malt and coffee. Flavor is fairly sweet, no doubt owing to the black strap molasses. Some hops present in the flavor, but that is more of a balance to the sweetness. Mouthfeel is smooth, although a bit on the watery side.

Dark stout with tan head. Subtle roasted aroma. Malty flavor with a bit of minerally sharpness to it reminiscent of a british stout. Smooth, dry finish.

Bottle sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective stout tasting on 1.16.09 courtesy of Dogbrick. Nice looking pour with a thin and bubbly off-white ring of head. Was a bit disappointed overall; thought this beer was way over-carbonated and the aroma did not match up with the flavor. Intimidating boozy aroma, but came across almost sour. In two words: Beer Cola.

Bottle sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective stout tasting on 1.16.09 courtesy of Dogbrick. Pours dark dark brown with a medium tan head. Malty aroma that is just a bit smoky and tart. Flavor is pretty much the same. Not bad overall.

Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. The beer is a nearly opaque brownish black color with a minimal light beige head that disappears quickly. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of espresso and lightly smoky malt. Light and dry mouthfeel with flavors of coffee, caramel and touches of hops. The finish is mostly malty with a light hoppy character on the back end. Decent overall, but really does not compete with the better beers of the style.

Oily black pour with a small tan head that leaves a small layer behind. Chocolate smelling with a big malt aroma as well, maybe some licorice. Thin mouthfeel, chocolate and licorice in the flavor with some mild coffee thrown in. Pretty weak for a stout.
