Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

12oz bottle, good deal at $5.49 per sixer. Deep, dark black with a light tan head that was initially quite huge but is now a thin layer of foam. Decent stouty molasses smell but it is way down there. Easy flavor, no roast, malty, no molasses, hops? This is a good beer for the money but not my favorite stout by any means. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-03-2009 20:47:33

Pour is a dark black with a light tan head. Aroma of malt with a little chocolate and molasses. Medium bodied. Rich with flavor with no one flavor dominating.

12oz bottle, dark black color, with a beige head, leaving some laces, yeasty, roasted chocolate malt nose, with some dark chocolatey accents, with a faint liquorice, molasses, coffee aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild roasty, chocolate malt character, with a liquorice, anise spicy note, with some black coffee beans roastiness, with a mild molasses accent, leading towards a dark chocolatey, roasty bitterness finish.

Pours a dark black that allows some light with a two finger creamy tan head that leaves a prevalent lace. The nose is earthy, caramel, sweet malt, diacetyl, . The flavor is sweet, dry, caramel, malty, similar to guinness, tobacco, bitter coffee. Dry bitter mouthfeel.

Draught @ Bridgeport Brewing. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with some hints of coffee. Roasted malty and slightly hoppy bitter chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty bitter chocolate finish.

12 oz. Opaque with a creamy quarter-inch head that endures and frosts the glass. Big molasses, coffee and marshmallow aromas. Flavor is similar, but subdued well by some nice hickory char and additional coffee. Medium body is super-creamy smooth and pleasantly dry, with a very drinkable balance between sticky vs. watery mouthfeel. This one was a very pleasant surprise.
