Commercial Description:
A healthy dose of Northwest hops balances the sweetness of black strap molasses to make this a velvet-rich, creamy descendent of the great Irish stouts. A real treat for those who crave the dark side of brewing.

Not quite black, but dark, dark brown with medium head. Roasted malt and slight chocolate aroma. Very full-flavored stout for 6%. Raw roasted malt and creamy chocolate. Very dry and slightly bitter finish. Nice beer from an under-appreciated brewery.

Pours a dark black color with a hint of ruby. Aroma is nice and rich, dark, and sweet of lots of malt. Flavor is rich with caramel, molasses, coffee, chocolate, roast flavor and a slight hop bitterness, too. 12 oz. bottle @ Flying Saucer, Ft. Worth.

12 oz. bottle - pours thin and dark brown; cream colored head along the edges; soapy and roasty aromas; thin body and flavors are very bland; carbonation a little over-powering

(cleaning out my beer bottle collection as pictured in my profile and utilizing ratebeer.com) As I recall, this was a good stout with rich roasty flavors of malt and choclate.

Black in color with an ok tan head. Aromas of coffe, roasted notes, and chocolate. Taste is much like the aromas. Nice aftertaste. Medium body.

Ok, these guys get it, just because you are an American micro brewery doesn’t mean you have to go overkill on the hops. Malty and has that coffee flavor you expect from a stout. Not an outstanding stout but better to me than some of the more hyped stouts with higher ratings.

Mar. 2007 - Dark, dark as night, decent head and lacing. Aroma was roast. Very dry flavor, with some roastiness and burnt malt flavor. A little thin in the mouthfeel, but not bad.
