Tastes of caramel and dark ripe fruit with aged oak and a bitter hoppy finish; I didn’t find much bourbon anywhere. Nice carbonation on the palate. Good, but I was expecting more. It is pretty reasonably priced though. cflores (6), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 High fruit content due to the choice of quality hops. The vanilla and alch content derive from the aging in burban oak. a long body that ballences well with the full fruit hop that lingers for with a nice caramel ending. rather enjoyable for an american barley wine. Woody, boozy, grainy. Oak and bourbon in the background. Lots of fruitiness on the tongue. Very nice beer and quite affordable. mcbackus (741), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Aroma is thick with caramel sweetness and hints of vanilla. Flavor is moderate on caramel, light toffee, some oak aged notes, and light citrus hops. Very mellow bw. I’d been wanting to try this for a while, thanks to Jordan for packing this home from Seattle! Gillard (42), Florida, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Very disappointing given the possibilities of a barleywine aged in bourbon barrels. Pours a classic barleywine ruby copper color. The aroma, while weak, is strikingly hoppy, though - far more so than most barleywines I’ve tried. The taste is acidic, with notes of citrus rind, hops and a bit of the oak from the barrels. The taste of bourbon is disappointingly absent. It’s almost like a boozier version of BridgePort’s IPA with some extra caramel malt thrown in. Very, very ’meh’.
